Frequently asked questions
You can file your auto & motorcycle claim by phone if you like, but filing online or with our app is fast and easy:
- Be in control – check the status of your claim, upload photos and other documents, set up direct-deposit, communicate with your Claims team, get electronic notifications, and more.
- Find a repair shop – The choice of repair shop is yours, but keep in mind our Select Service shops provide a guaranteed completion date and limited lifetime warranty.
- Select a rental – If you have rental coverage on your policy, you may be able to choose a replacement vehicle to use while yours is in the shop.
- Complete a virtual estimate – It’s fast and easy. If you’ve filed a claim and declined our Select Service® program, our Photo Estimate tool can help if the damage is external and minor, and you still have access to your vehicle. It will help you take guided photos of your vehicle damage to get an initial estimate and payout for covered damage as early as 48 hours from submission.
Log in through the State Farm mobile app to utilize this tool. (Not available in Massachusetts or Rhode Island). - Take it easy – our mobile app lets you access claim information and complete tasks wherever you are, whenever you like.
If you have rental coverage on your active policy, you may be eligible. Here’s a quick way to find out:
- Look for “Coverages” on your State Farm insurance card.
- If there’s an “R” in the line of characters, it means you have rental coverage.
- You may also be able to rent a car if your car is stolen. Talk to your claim specialist to see if you qualify.
